I don't understand why people don't think she's telling the truth. With proper parenting and guidance you can be easily on the right path and not make big mistakes.
If she answered any other way they would still have said something about it. Of course, I think she should have said something along the lines of saying how great her parents and family are which kept her head on straight.

good video! thanks to ABC. that IS a very tough question. i would have a hard time answering it. although maybe the judges were looking for a charming and witty answer! i think they should not have taken her answer against her.
